Win! Win! Win!

087Do you believe that anyone wins those contests you see on line and in magazines?  Win a cruise! Win a trip to Mexico! Win a Disney vacation!

I can answer from personal experience:  yes!  I was fortunate to win a Rail Europe contest where the prize was a 4 day, first-class France rail pass.  Not only did I win, but my daughter won too.  The topper is that I entered the next year and won a second year in a row!

There was no particular skill involved; you just had to identify a picture of a location in France and reply on-line through Facebook.  It was fun, if you like looking at pictures of France, and it felt really great to be a winner.  The odds of winning this particular contest were pretty good.  They gave away one pass a day for a 30 day period, so, depending on the number of folks entering per day, you had multiple chances of success.

My daughter submitted a vacation photo for another Rail Europe contest and won a first class, 7 day Eurail pass.  She’s heading off to Italy and France this summer.  Granted, rail travel is only a portion of the total trip cost; however winning a rail pass is a great incentive to get up and go.

Certainly, these contests are geared toward marketing whatever product you’re trying to win.  Yes, you will be asked for some personal information.  You can’t win if you don’t enter, just like you can’t win the lotto if you don’t buy a ticket.  In the case of legitimate travel contests, it doesn’t cost you anything to enter, so why not give it a chance?

Swing by Big Blue Suitcase’s Facebook page for updates and links to contest opportunities.  There’s a great Princess Cruises contest going on at the moment where you can win a cruise of your choice.  Check it out and happy travelling!
